Dr. John Flowers

Dr. Flowers was born and raised in Lynbrook, NY, which is on Long Island.  He attended Cornell University for his under-graduate and veterinary education and graduated in 1996.  Dr. Flowers and his wife, Ellen, founded At Home Veterinary Care in 1999.  Dr. Flowers enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine.  He is a member of the Maine Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medicine Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.  Dr. Flowers and his wife have three children.  His extended family includes 3 dogs (Lacy, Jasmine and Penne), 3 cats and an African Gray parrot. In whatever spare time he can manage, Dr. Flowers enjoys gardening, fishing, hunting and many other outdoor activities.

Ellen Flowers, Practice Manager

Ellen is our practice manager and manages to skillfully combine this with her work as a licensed veterinary technician. As a veterinary technician, Ellen assists with radiographs, catheter placement, surgical procedures, performs dentals and fills in whenever necessary. She has been a technician for 18 years and has worked at two referral hospitals as a surgical technician. She also worked in the intensive care unit at Cornell University. Ellen and Dr. Flowers are parents to three wonderful children and their extended family includes 3 dogs, 2 cats and an African Gray parrot. During Ellen's rare free time, she loves reading, stained glass, and working in the garden.

   

Dr. Heather Crispell

Dr. Crispell is excited to be part of the At Home Veterinary Care team.  Heather graduated from Saint Michael's College with a Bachelor or Science in 2006.  Dr. Crispell grew up in Harvard, Massachusetts, and has had a life long interest in adventure and science.  These interests have led her to working in diverse fields like biomedical research and neuroscience in diverse places from Bar Harbor, Maine to Fairbanks, Alaska.  Dr. Crispell attended The Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University graduating in 2013.  Heather, her husband and their Alaskan Malamute Maddie love to spend their free time skijoring, climbing, kayaking and exploring.

Dr. Andrew Osborn

Dr. Osborn was born and raised in Bryn Mawr, PA a suburb of Philadelphia. He attended Franklin and Marshall College for his under-graduate degree majoring in Biological Foundations of Behavior in Animal Behavior. He continued to study advance sciences at the University of Pennsylvania and later went on to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, completing his clinical year at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine graduating in May of 2015. Dr. Osborn enjoys every aspect of veterinary medicine especially radiology, behavior, surgery and exotic animal medicine. Dr. Osborn and his Fiancé own two pugs (Eloise and Ferdinand). He enjoys everything outdoors including hiking, golfing, surfing, snowboarding and exploring as much as Maine as humanly possible. Although Dr. Osborn wasn’t born in Maine, he got here as fast as he could.

Valerie, Office Manager

Valerie joined our staff in April, 2014 as our office manager. Valerie grew up in the Gardiner area and after 20 years away was very happy to come back home the first of the year. Valerie enjoys gardening, quilting, embroidery and spending time with her family. Valerie has 1 son and 3 beautiful grandbabies. She resides in Pittston with her husband Ralph and their lab Zoey.

   

Melissa, licensed veterinary technician

Melissa joined our team in 2005 and has not missed a beat. A graduate of the University of Maine at Orono with a Bachelors in Zoology, she furthered her education by obtaining an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology at NHCTC in New Hampshire. A Licensed Technician since 2003, Melissa has been working with animals since 2000. She and her husband live in Bowdoinham with 2 dogs (Dexter, a German Shepherd, and Jack, a Springer Spaniel mix) and 3 cats. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys reading, hiking with her dogs, camping and fishing.

Pat, Head Technician

From the time she was little, Pat remembers stray animals following her home. As a child, Pat rehabilitated all kinds of wildlife: snakes, turtles, frogs and birds, just to name a few. After a career in journalism, Pat decided to follow her love of animals and she went back to school to become a licensed veterinary technician. Pat has been a licensed technician since 1995 and pays special attention to each pet that is in her care. Prior to moving to Maine and joining our staff, she had worked at the same hospital for 13 years. Pat loves the mentality of herding dogs and appreciates the sense of humor her "Beardies" have. Pat has 4 bearded collies and too many cats and chickens to count. She also enjoys gardening and the challenges of starting an apple orchard.

Amy has been working with animals since she was 15 years old, starting out volunteering at a local animal shelter. She lives with her large, four-legged family and spends her free time camping, hiking, snow-shoeing or just hanging out with her dogs.

Amber - Veterinary Assistant

Amber has been working with animals since she was 14 years old. Amber is currently in school studying to be a Vet Tech. She is originally from South Portland, but is now living in Sabattus with her boyfriend Ben and their two dogs, Shadow and Bentley. In Amber’s free time she enjoys camping, hiking, kayaking, and spending time with her niece Kaitlyn and nephew Aj.

Natalie - Receptionist

Natalie joined our team in November 2015. It has always been her dream to work with animals. An impromptu interview during one of her dog’s exams landed her the positon of receptionist. Natalie spends her free time with her six dogs: her chocolate lab Cash, her black lab collie mix Rio, Bentley her chocolate lab spaniel mix,Ennis her boxer red bone coon hound mix, Smokey her cattle dog mix, and Ruby her chihuahua. She also enjoys her position as president of Animal Rescue of Kennebec; coordinating fundraising events and fostering puppies. Natalie is passionate about her career in the veterinary field and thrilled that it began with our clinic!

MegHan - receptionist

Meghan joined our team in February 2016 after moving back to Maine after being in Florida for the past few years. She has always loved animals and has a mini-mastiff named Bruno and a Maine coon cat named Gus. In her spare time she loves being outdoors with her dog, fishing, watching baseball, and practicing photography.

Kaitlin - licensed veterinary technician

Kaitlin joined our team in May, 2016.  She has always had a passion for animal care since she was little.  Kaitlin graduated from the Veterinary Technical Institute of Houston, Texas, February, 2016 along with passing her national exam making her a licensed veterinary technician.  She is originally from New Hampshire but lives with her boyfriend and flame point cat named Finn in Bath.  In her spare time she enjoys reading, staying active, and trying new foods and restaurants.
